Let's Celebrate the Environment with Some Positivity
Positive Environmental News to Brighten Your Day
With negative news everywhere, I’m here to brighten your day with these top positive news stories happening in our environment! It’s not every day that there are good things happening in our environment so if these news stories don’t make you smile… well then there might just be something wrong with you.
There is no shortage of bad news when it comes to the environment, but in the past year recently there have been a few bright spots. Highlighting these bright spots will give us hope to a better future and reinforcement that the steps we are taking as citizens to save the environment and live eco-friendly are making a positive impact.

1. France Set to End All Use of Petrol and Diesel by 2040
Big deal alert! France has recently set the goal as a country to get rid of all Petrol and Diesel vehicles. This goal is revolutionary, hybrid cars only represent 3.5 percent of the vehicle population now, this goal set by the government is striving for 100 percent hybrid vehicles.
What does this mean you ask?
With a decrease in the amount of petrol and diesel cars there will be a major decrease in the amount of gas house emissions as mentioned in my previous blog a decrease in the gas house emissions, will improve air quality slowing the rate of climate change.
Hopefully other countries will see the success of this new goal by France and follow in their footsteps. If more of us go eco-friendly it will increase the rate at which this idea of going 100 percent renewable energy is beneficial for the government. If the government thinks its a good idea for them then they will most likely do it.
Some countries of already followed this goal set by France, as said in the Positive News article, "Leaders in the Netherlands and Norway previously said they wanted to get rid of petrol and diesel vehicles by 2025. Germany and India announced similar targets before 2030."
Let's keep this trend going!

2. Repurposing Bio-Methane in Landfills to Energy
There are about 251 tons of trash in landfills around the United States, thats a lot of trash. The trash in this landfill decomposes and creates a dangerous green house gas known as: methane. Methane is 25 times more damaging to the environment then the other greenhouse gas carbon dioxide.
Repurposing this dangerous gas to energy will decrease the amount of methane being released in to the atmosphere, improving our environment and our health.
There have been new studies on how to reduce this gas by reusing it and reverting it to energy effectively, this research broke down the carbon footprint of the waste producing methane to understand how the chemical is released. Scientist discovered that reverting this waste will eliminate about .41 percent annually of the approximately seven billion tons of greenhouse gas emissions produced in the United States.
Below is a diagram of how landfills can collect the methane gas in order to revert it to energy.
3. India to be Fully Renewable by 2050
More and more countries are making strides towards eco-friendly living. The most recent country doing so is India. India is set to run on a complete fully renewable electrical energy system by 2050. All though this still seems forever away this goal to run completely by renewable energy is a very BIG deal. India is one of the most populated countries in the world thus producing a lot of green house gases. Using 100 percent renewable energy will decrease the greenhouse gases by a significant amount.
India's air pollution is the most deadliest.
The benefits of India going 100 percent renewable energy are immense, it will:
1. It will help India reach and meet climate change targets.
2. Improve the overall health of the people in India, reducing air pollution related deaths,
3. Cut cost of health care due to decrease in bad health from pollution.
4. Decrease in energy shortages for the high demand amount needed to run the large and over populated country.
How will India use complete renewable energy?
Using solar power will be the primary renewable source and when the amount of sun available for solar power is low then India will turn to other renewable energy such as wind and hydro power.
